How it plays

One door a day. Five lines to get past it. Here's how a night goes.

  1. Rosa peers out of her green door. Warm and Wary both sit at 15.

    Step 1: Meet today's door

One resident guards one door. Everyone gets the same one today, and it changes at midnight.

  2. A compliment to Rosa, tagged Rosa understood: a compliment. Warm is up to 32.

    Step 2: Use five lines

Say anything, or start from a chip. Every line warms them up or makes them wary.

  3. Rosa's door swings open. You're in, 3 stars, 2 of 5 lines.

    Step 3: Share the result

Your result goes out, never your lines. Then see who did it in fewer.

Try a line on Rosa.

She's the first door everyone meets. Be nice. Or don't.

  1. Rosa: If you're selling something, I already have two.

Pick a line.

Line 1 of 5

  • Warm goes up when she likes what she hears. Enough of it and the door opens.
  • Wary goes up when she smells a story. Too much and you're bounced.
  • In the app you write your own lines. Rosa hears every one.

House rules.

Every door is hard, and none of them cheat. Get bounced and it was the line. Get in and it was you.

  • Same door for everyone.

Everyone gets the same character on the same date, so you and your friends face the same door.

  • See how every line lands.

Under each line you see what the character understood. If that's not what you meant, say so.

  • The rules decide.

Characters read what you mean. Fixed door rules, not dice, move Warm and Wary and decide when the door opens.

  • Five lines, a few minutes.

Each line is up to 120 characters. Start from a chip or just talk. Most doors take 3 to 6 minutes.

  • Tricks get a look, not a key.

Lines meant for the app instead of the character never open a door. They do get an answer.

Overheard on the street.

Every door ends with a line from the character, whether you got in or not. A few favourites from Linden Street.

Everyone on this street is guarding something.

One character a night, each with their own door and their own idea of who gets in. Talk your way past one and they move into your Street.

Fridays

Benny, the bouncer

Benny guards the VIP door. The list is closed. He looks bored.

Benny, the bouncer, looks unconvinced

Easy on Monday. The palace guard on Sunday.

Every door gets a little harder as the week goes on. By Sunday you'll want your best lines.

Keep your porch light on.

Play today's door every night and your porch light counts the nights. Miss one and a spare key covers you.

Share the night, not the answer.

Your share is one square for each line you used, your count against par, and a quote from the character. Your lines never go with it, so it never spoils the door for anyone still on the step.

Then see who did it in fewer.

Add someone and you'll see each other's doors, streets and lines used. Never each other's words.

  • Beat my line

Challenge a friend on any door you've played.

They see how many lines you used, your row and your stars. Never your words.

  • Friends

    Same door, same group chat.

Add friends by username, QR code or from your contacts. See who's played tonight, climb the friends board, and knock on their street once a day.

Questions at the door

Something else? Ask at support.

  • Yes. Today's door is free, every day. Doorstep Pass is optional, and you never need it to play the daily door.

Today's door is open.
